The Opportunity

A Implementation Manager (IM) is a seasoned business professional who ensures the quality of service delivered by their team and proactively manages the success of our customers. The position reports to the VP of Professional Services. An IM has 5-8 consulting resources as direct reports, and is involved in managing their billable and non-billable project work. The position is a high impact role that is internal and external facing, and will be involved in shaping the strategic direction of the Professional Services department.

Successful Implementation Managers

The role of an implementation manager is a cross between a project manager and a consulting manager. Thus a successful IM will have strong project management skills, coupled with depth of management experience. This will require the IM to be very organized, have strong communication skills and the ability to act as a mentor for their team. IMs will work as a team to document and share best practices, identify and resolve process inefficiencies and work toward continually improving our service delivery model.

The IM’s key performance indicators are the number of successful project implementations and the billable and non-billable utilization of their team.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the IM is split between managing the quality of services delivered by their team and successfully managing small to medium sized  implementations (typical projects range from 1-6 weeks of consulting services). In addition to these responsibilities, an IM will work extensively with the Project Management Office to continually improving the service delivery methodology. This will involve creating, documenting and implementing new tools, processes and policies.

An IM actively participates as a member of our team by sharing knowledge and committing to the achievement of common business objectives.

In summary, the IM is responsible for the following:

  1. Managing Consulting team
    1. Performance review/management
    2. White space management
    3. Proactively managing resource billable utilization
    4. Training/continual education
  2. Project Management
    1. Manage team’s implementations (projects not managed by the PMO)
      1.                                       i.        Proactively ensure successful project completion
      2.                                      ii.        Work towards customer reference- ability
    2. Guarantee quality and consistency of service delivery
    3. Manage escalated client issues
    4. Billable PM hours (with annual revenue target)
  3. Continual Imrpovement
    1. Contribute towards Implementation methodology improvements
    2. Develop, document and implement processes/tools to improve service delivery
  4. Pre-sales Support
    1. Review SOW
    2. Manage POC projects

Qualifications

As an IM, you should have a track record of working with different functional groups to drive the creation and use of business systems and processes in a rapidly growing start-up environment. You will also have demonstrated success in strategic and tactical planning in a project environment. Your strong organizational skills will help you to effectively manage the needs of your projects, your team members and balance those against the needs of the business.

Due to the complicated nature of our software and services you will need to have a good understanding of the ERP/CRM/BI market. You should also have a Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience.

Educational and typical years experience needed for this role.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-6 year experience managing direct reports
  • 5+ years experience in a complex software environment
  • 5+ years experience in a Professional Services/Consulting environment
  • Understanding of a database application
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Strong organizational ability is required as the candidate will be required to manage multiple projects accordingly
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functionality, with leadership, peers and subordinates
  • Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must be able to travel to the United States
