This Systems Position will report to the Technology and Infrastructure Systems Enterprise Manager working under the general direction of the Technology and Infrastructure Services Director. The designation of this job is to be responsible for the smooth operation of all HPUX and SAN Infrastructure.
Ensuring that company achieves its corporate mission by taking responsibility for getting the job done on time while exceeding internal and external customer’s expectations.
Deliver superior prioritized support of critical and supplementary systems in a timely responsible manner as directed by management, and the procedures and policies of the company. Willingness to test and implement a diverse range of preferred technologies in support of company objectives.
This position will be in a fast pace work environment with a large volume of problem logs, minimal supervision and tight deadlines. This is primarily a HP-UX Position with a secondary focus on storage (80% / 20%)
Setup and configuration of new HP-UX Servers, Configuration and completion of checklists
Migration of existing Environments to new Infrastructure (Superdome and Blade Technology)
Partitioning Experience: nPars, Virtual Partitions, Virtual Machines, Troubleshooting
Virtual Partitioning v5 and v6 (Superdome and Blade Infrastructure)
Strong Experience with Performance and Tuning Enterprise Systems
Strong experience with Ignite/UX, Golden Images
Strong knowledge of all aspects of HP-UX Unix/Linux Technology
Strong Scripting Experience, experience with writing monitor scripts, reporting, system analysis
Strong knowledge of HP-UX, Logical Volume Management/LVM, System Tuning, Capacity Management
Strong Knowledge MC/ServiceGuard Setup and Configuration.
Maintain Backup Environment (Symantec Netbackup Infrastructure, daily rsync’s to DR). Management of Backup Media Servers.
HP-UX 11.x, MC/ServiceGuard, Mirror/UX, Ignite Performance and Tuning
Presentation of Performance Reports on all Critical Infrastructure.
Classification, Investigation, diagnosis and resolution of L3 Problems.
Monitoring and escalation procedures relative to the appropriate SLAs
Incident ownership, monitoring, tracking and communication
Problem Management, diagnoses, discuss, and resolve problems. Be part of the Problem Management Team.
Closing Problems and confirmation with Client Services or relevant internal department
Strong Understanding of EMC and EVA Technologies, Replication Technologies
Strong knowledge of all aspects of SAN technology, (i.e., Fiber Channel, iSCSI, RAID, HP EVA, EMC, MSL Tape Library’s, FC Fabrics, HP CV)
Strong understanding of Storage Essentials and Fabric Manager, Zoning
Strong understanding of Fiber Switching, Brocades, Zoning and Logical Zoning
Desired Education or Background:
– A degree in computer science or related field, or diploma with relevant experience.
– HP-UX / Unix / SAN Certification(s)
– HP-UX/SAN Professional Certification(s)
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must have Skills: Strong HP-UX, Strong Scripting skills, LVM, MCSG, Good Communication Skills, Time Management
At Sys Admin level – 70-75k + 6-8% bonus
At Sys Engineer level – to $82k + 10% bonus
3 or 4 weeks vacation, pension plan, RSP plan, education program.
