AZURE SQL DBA 

Location: Toronto downtown business core

Hybrid working office, client site and your home.

Salary: Market rate ++

 

Looking for an Azure SQL DBA who has hands-on experience in data management, application development, integration and database development in Azure and who will contribute to successfully deliver hybrid data integration or custom database development projects in the Greater Toronto Area.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand business requirements for data and information especially in the financial services industry.

Responsible for overall design and creation of logical and physical data models as well as partitioning scheme based on business requirements.

Conduct performance tuning.

Design and implement archival strategy with Change Data Capture (CDC) data.

Develop database stored procedures based on Microsoft T-SQL as needed.

Produce estimates for analysis, design, development, and testing.

Lead, mentor, and coach other junior members on client engagements.

Ensure compliance with business, data, and technical requirements.

Ensure that client’s enterprise architecture standards, policies, and procedures are followed.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

Minimum 8 years experience in Information Technology, participating in complex projects.

Minimum 2 years within Azure SQL databases and Azure environment.

Strong communication skills.

Strong knowledge in T-SQL and management of Azure SQL databases.

Strong knowledge in database monitoring and performance tuning in Azure SQL databases (standalone or Managed Instance).

Experience in working with Change Data Capture (CDC) data

Azure Event Hub experience is preferred

 

 

Familiar with capabilities of Azure platform services related to data management (e.g. Compute, Storage, Integration, Data, Security, or Management).

Knowledgeable in Azure security infrastructure (key vault) and integration with Azure SQL databases.

Knowledgeable in both relational and dimensional data modeling (with both Kimball and Inmon approaches).

Knowledge in data integration, REST-oriented API, Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) principles.

Good overall business knowledge in financial industries (i.e. one or more in retail banking, commercial banking, capital markets, wealth management, insurance, pension fund, and fintech).

Ability to work independently and excel in a team environment.
